John Engle has been working with others to transform the way international non-profits work since 1991. Up until February of this year, he lived with his wife, Merline, and her surrogate daughter, Darline, in a small house in rural Marianman, Haiti. He is cofounder of Haiti-based Fondasyon Limyè Lavi, and its American partner organization, Beyond Borders (http://www.beyondborders.net). He is also co-founder of Wotalfa, a literacy initiative of Rotary Clubs of Haiti (http://rotaryliteracy-haiti.org). For the past nine years he has been using Open Space Technology with networks and organizations throughout Haiti. He is also a practitioner of Touchstones (http://www.touchstones.org) which helps children and adults develop skills in dialog and tolerance. He serves on the board of directors of Open Space Institute (US) and, he is a "reservist" with Christian Peacemaker Teams (http://www.cpt.org), a faith-based organization working in areas around the world where there is unrest to deter violence.

John and Merline are moving to Washington, D.C. John will do fund raising toward promoting Open Space and Reflection Circles in Haiti. He will also work as a consultant helping U.S. based organizations to do good better, using Open Space and other tools.

John's vision is for Open Space and Reflection Circle practices to become as common in meetings, seminars, conferences, and classrooms as the use of podiums, powerpoint presentations, and chalkboards.
