We discussed the reflection circle method
In RC, every (or about every) meeting has an activity that encourages reflection- that looks at the process and the group’s development as a group
Start with a less threatening question, like “give the groups grade for how the meeting went”. You can switched to “a grade yourself”. It’s important to switch back and forth between the group and the individual.
Also important to give people practice making judgments in public.
Begin in small groups report 2 or 3 sentences back to whole about how you’d like this group to be in few meeting
Also useful for evaluation and learning about being a discussion leader.
Use small groups who discuss 3 questions
1. What makes a good traditional school teacher?
2. What makes a good group leader (animateur)?
3. What makes a good discussion leader?
Goal is to find clarity on #3 but contrasting with #1 and #2.
Each small group reports on 3-4 answers to each question
Make a list of the reponses and ask:
1. Which of these skills are we good at?
2. Which of these skills are we OK at?
3. Whit of these skills do we need to improve?
