Originally, this page was organized alphabetically by first name. Then it was reorganized to be alphabetically by last name. Now, it's been changed back be alpha by first name which does seems a bit easier. Comments?

As I have been responsible for the last reorganization, maybe I should explain why I have done that. First, I could NOT see any organization and the list seemd to me completelly unorganized. Now that I know that the list was eventually "organized by last name", I understand that I could only have understood the "order" if it was written, for instance "Herman, Michael" or even, eventually, if it was written "Michael Herman" but when we are using wiki names MichaelHerman is just one word for me. Sorry if this WikiGnome made a gnome-mistake ;-) - ArturSilva

I don't see it as a mistake at all. MichaelHerman is just one person, after all. :-) Sure, I value his opinion, but sometimes we disagree! :-) Anyway, I like the new organization by first name. Thanks Artur! --TedErnst

• Let me first clarify what I wanted to say. When someone subscribes as an online participant to a Conference, if one puts an Wiki name than a page with one's name will be created that one can then fill. If one doesn't create a Wiki name, then a Gnome can change that - that's ok. What I disagree is that a Gnome also puts the name of that participant in the page named "NamePages" in the overall osw.net space. I have two reasons for suggesting that. First: some people subscribe to the Conference only as one way to advertise themselves - puting their names in the NamePages a Gnome is further increasing that advertisement and making it more solid (as the Conference will end one day but the general wiki no). Second: Anyone can add her name to the NamePages of the general wiki. But that will mean a certain responsability - that person is implicitly saying that she is an OST practicioner or that she is involved in some ongoing project on the general wiki. I think a Gnome shall not assume that responsability in the name of others - hence liberating them from assuming (or not) that responsability themselves. Only an opinion...'' --ArturSilva.

• Certainly NamePages can be whatever we decide it is, but right now, it seems to simply be a catagory. Certain pages are name pages and thus are listed on NamePages. This doesn't mean these people have anything to do with OST or the development of this wiki or that they take responsibility for anything. I agree that no page should be listed on NamePages if it's not a name page. If there is a link to that person's name page from anywhere on this site, whether that should be from an OSonOS check-in or because they were an online or onsite participant in any event hosted here, and they choose to identify themselves and make their own page, that's a name page and can be listed on NamePages. If a person checked in for an event and then didn't create a name page, there's no way to be listed on NamePages because there is no page for that person. Follow me? Also, blank pages and references to these blank pages can be deleted which could mean changing my name on a check-in page from TedErnst to Ted Ernst if I didn't actually have anything on my name page. I do think NamePages is quite different from NetSpaceHolders?. What do you think? --TedErnst

• Yes, Ted, I agree that the discussion must take place here, because it concerns really what we think that the NamePages must be (but, for the time being, I will conserve the part that is in OSonOSinSwenMark/OnsiteAndOnlineColaborationAtOSonOS, and will later replace it by the conclusion we will come here). First, I suppose we are in agreement that the NamePages refer to "people" and not to the name of "objects". So what I would like to add is that, in my opinion, the NamePages in the overall .net wiki should include OST practitioners and others envolved in on-going projects in the wiki (Space holders or not). And I would prefer to have some sort of an OSinOSinSwenMark/NamePages? (more generally "Conference X / Name Pages") to include people that subscribed to OSonOS but are not included in the first category. The reasons are above and this is only an opinion, of course. Indeed, I would check the changes of the NamePages and conserve there only the people that created themselves the entry or explicitly asked for it, and move to the other "Name Pages" the ones that just showed up for the event. -- ArturSilva
