Location The University of British
Columbia is located on a point of land jutting out into the Strait
of Georgia, 6 miles from downtown Vancouver. It is approximately
25 minutes from the Vanc
Accommodations There are two on campus options for accommodations at OSonOS. Place Vanier Residence is a university dorm, featuring small single and twin rooms. There is no in house eating facility, but food is available at the Student Union Building, a short 10 minute walk away. Parking is $4/day and the Sty-Wet-Tan Great Hall is right across the street. Rooms are $22.00 per night, or $44.00 for a twin. There are shared bathrooms and a shared lounge on each floor. There are 25 rooms on each floor. Walter Gage Residence features a variety of apartments and suites. This facility has a variety of room types, from dorm style rooms with shared bathrooms to condominium style suites with TVs, kitchenettes and balconies. There are some spectacular views from this complex. Parking is free at Gage and the Student Union Building is across the street. the Sty-Wet-Tan Great Hall is a 10 minute walk away.
Details In keeping with the accessibility principle of this conference, a block of dorm rooms has been set aside on campus for conference participants for the nights of August 18-20 at C$22 per night, plus tax. Other rooms or suites may be booked as well. For your information, rates are as follows (all prices are in Canadian dollars, and don't include 15% tax):

Off-site Accommodations Vancouver boasts a huge variety of hotels, from luxury accommodations to youth hostels. In general, summertime accommodation is pretty expensive, but if you want to stay downtown there are a large number of hotels to choose from. If you wish to book a hotel room in Vancouver, or plan other activities while you're here, check out the Government of British Columbia's travel service. They can help you find accommodation and plan excursions.
