I think this is a really important initiative that you are undertaking, and a hard one! I'm happy to see that you are planning it and I think Open Space is definitely the way to go. I organized a round table meeting for Haiti Solidarity Week in 2004, and it was an attempt to get people together to talk about Haiti and get some unity. We ran into all the problems you might expect from a traditional agenda and the Haiti solidarity movement! It was an excellent learning experience. I'm happy to help you out with this initiative in any way I can. I know a lot of people from the time when I was coordinating the Let Haiti Live coalition. I feel a great pit in my stomach when I remember trying to get people to work together, but I also feel inspiration when I read your plan.

"The use of Open Space will aid in [ORcontribute to] creating a culture of democracy," [including reference to Open Space again reinforces/explains/reiterates part of is essential purpose ], and then "which will complement [or a stronger verb that is a little less abstract and less random than "spill over on" ] the efforts of people coming from a wealth [ OR plethora OR rich assortment ] of diverse views and backgrounds."
